It was evident that the only credible and stable means of preventing the escalating vulnerability of the South Sudanese people, was to increase local economic activities. This called for the creation and implementation of income generating projects and activities that would have rapid impact on the lives of the female headed households This would encourage self-reliance and phase out the dependency on food aid.

The goal of UIC’s first project was to raise funds to support the re-building of the Chukudum Women Center (CWC). This building provides a place where women of the Sacred Heart Parish in Chukudum can gather and perform self-supporting activities such as: clothing making, cooking and bread making.

The next goal was to provide the equipment to support and encourage the beneficiaries to further start their own income generating activities which would enable them to be self-reliant in leading their lives.
